The study of Japanese contributes to the education of students in the areas of literacy, communication, intercultural understanding, and thinking about how languages work.
It introduces students to the culture of Japan and Japanese-speaking communities and promotes understanding of different attitudes and values. The aim is to stimulate the student’s interest in Japanese and to make learning a foreign language a fun and interesting experience while reaping the benefits of learning an additional language.
The program is organised through themes and topics to develop language and cultural understandings. In a typical Japanese class, students learn and practise basic language skills through engaging games, activities and songs.
